DECEMBER IS CLIENT APPRECIATION MONTH
Thu, 11/ 12/ 2009
With the holidays fast
approaching, it's time once again to think of the best
gift to give to loved ones - and yourself! For the
month of December I'd like to show my appreciation for
your trust in my skills and services by offering $10
OFF every session in December. That includes Gift
Certificates!
You can purchase your sessions either by cash or check in person or online when you click on PURCHASE SESSIONS ONLINE via Paypal. Your credit/debit card will be refunded the $10 off discount as soon as I receive it. Gift certificates can then be mailed to you or your recipient within 2 business days, or you can pick it up at the office.
This is also a perfect time to show my appreciation for those of you who have been coming to see me for over 10 years! Can you believe it? I've been doing massage for almost 10 years now - full time! And because of clients like you, I'm still able to do what I love every day!
NEW HOURS AND MATERNITY LEAVE
Please note that I also have updated schedule of hours. I am now availabe for sessions Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays by appointment. Because of my pregnancy (I'm due on January 30, 2010!), I have cut down my hours and have a wonderful roommate named C'Lesa who does Foot-Hand-Ear Reflexology (we studied under the same teacher!) and hypnotherapy. I also have a great massage therapist to whom I can refer you to for sessions when I do go on my maternity leave from January to March 2010.
YEP! I'VE GOT A BUN IN THE OVEN!
For those of you who just heard, yes, I am pregnant and I am very excited! It's my first time to be gone from my practice for about 3 months (even though I'm scheduled to start working on March 15, 2010) starting January and if you'd like to drop me a note, please do! I am still working as of November and December 2009 and plan on doing so till Christmas! I'd love to see you before I head off to mama-land in 2010.
These days, I've been taking it easy - though it's sometimes so easy to forget that I've got a bun in the oven and there are certain things that I can't be doing at th emoment. Being 28 weeks is pretty interesting. Lots of things in my body are changing just as today's world is changing. Lots of insight to be had and lots of time for reflection. I've been pretty fortunate to have many supportive people around me at this time of my life - from my family to my workplace neighbors, my healthcare team and my clients.
HANDKNITTED GIFTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
I've also been spending my days knitting little gifts for my online shop as well as for the baby. Etsy is an online "shop" for anything handmade - and you can find just about anything on there! I've been selling my handspun, handknitted items since beginning of the year. I just wish I was a fast knitter! It definitely is very meditative and I'm finding that I love it more than I love spinning yarn. If you feel like stopping by my little etsy shop to check out my knitted gifts, I'd be thrilled!
I hope you enjoyed my little blog. I hope to blog more here about the goings-on at the office and my life as your massage therapist and/or continuing education instructor and I hope to see you soon!

Purple Yam Tam Silent Auction
Wed, 11/ 11/ 2009
Craig has been on a waiting list for almost 17 years since his first kidney transplant failed and since then, he's on home dialysis (which sucks). Although donor kidneys are plentiful, it's Craig's antibody counts that are way too high for him to qualify for one. Lately there's been new advances in urology which allow for the patient to undergo treatment to lower antibody counts enough to qualify for a kidney transplant without the risk of the body attacking the donor kidney. Such advances are now in the West Coast, at Cedars Sinai so Craig has been flying down for treatments to lower his antibodies and after one more infusion (which can last up to 6 - 8 hours), he should be set for a transplant!
So the past few months have seen Sherri and friends raising money to help Craig cover the out of pocket expenses associated with such a major surgery and having to be in the L.A. area for a few months while he is monitored post op. This Sunday, they're holding a dance-dinner-silent auction in Sacramento and Sherri asked me if I could knit something for the silent auction.
Honestl I'm always skeptical about silennt auctions. I've heard of items that took days or months to make fetch less than the cost of materials, but in this case, it doesn't matter. I have trust in the universe that whatever the item is worth, it will get it and then some. What matters right now is that I finish it!
If you would like to donate towards Craig's Kidney fund, check out Sherri's information page where you can see a video of Craig talking about his life without functioning kidneys, and how you can help. If you would like to purchase the tam or bid an amount for the silent auction, let her know, too!
GREAT CLASS!
Mon, 09/ 28/ 2009
Tonight I just finished
teaching a Pathology for Massage Therapists and
Holistic Bodyworkers at Cerritos College Community
Education. The students were just wonderful, albeit
probably overwhelmed by the wealth of information I
threw at them for 10 meetings. Thank goodness for
Powerpoint, I hope that many of the class content got
through as sometimes it seemed truly be overwhelming.
The Pathology class is part of Cerritos Community Education's Massage Therapy program where I currently teach Thai Yoga Bodywork, Herbal Thai Massage and Thai Foot Massage classes. Teaching since 2004, I've come to realize that I truly love sharing my knowledge to others - Guess that means I'm in no means shy, aren't I?
